Two years ago,PETRONAS entered the Formula One arena by becoming the main sponsor for the
Red Bull-Sauber-Petronas Team with two-pronged objectives - firstly to generate awareness and
make it better known world-wide and secondly to broaden and deepen its technical capability in
fields related to its core business.
Petronas views its involvement in the Red Bull-Sauber-Petronas Team as a partnership for growth,
a concept subscribed by the company in all its tie-ups.To Petronas,a partnership is a win-win
relationship that strives to further the interest and mutual benefits of the partners.
Towards this end,the partnership with Sauber has structured a 40:60 joint venture company known
as Sauber-Petronas Engineering AG.The joint venture will fulfil the engineering need of the Red Bull-
Sauber-Petronas Team,provide a more meaningful contribution to the Team and create added value
to Petronas sponsorship of the Team.At the same time,Petronas hopes to develop and enhance its
knowledge base and expertise in engines,fuel and lubricants as well as composite technology
through the strategic partnership.
