Designed by Dr.Harvey Postlethwaite and Leo Ress the C12 was destined to become the first
Mercedes Benz Grand Prix Car since 1955.But the Company decided against entering F1 in
November 1991.Postlethwaite left for Ferrari,but Peter Sauber decided to finish the project on
it`s own.Equipped with an Illmor V10 Engine the car started testing in september 1992 and was
entered in the 1993 F1 Worldchampionship,driven by Karl Wendlinger and J.J.Lehto.12 Points
and 7th place in the constructor`s championship marked the maiden season for the team at the
pinnacle of the sport.
